Cross-Stitch

The basic cross stitch — the process of making an "X" shape with thread — is one of the oldest and most widely used embroidery stitches.  In a creatively fulfilling and emotionally refreshing activity, you can make elaborate or simple pictures on fabric with threads and the cross stitch. This technique is easily worked on an evenweave fabric such as Aida cloth with a blunt needle called a Tapestry Needle.

This pattern was designed by myself and stitched by my daughter.  It took approximately 1 hr to stitch and would cost about $20.00.

This Mickey Quilt took about 2½ hrs to stitch each corner.  Cost is about $6.25 per corner.  I used 2 different Mickey fabrics, 1 yd of one and 2 yds of the other for back and binding.  The fabric was $4.00/yd and it took about 5 hrs to put it all together.  The cost for putting it together was $50.00.  There would be additional cost for cross-stitching or extra supplies.
